AAN Scholarships:

2021 Medical Student Scholarship to the Annual Meeting

February 8, 2021 - February 19, 2021 (11:59 pm Central Daylight Time)

* Applicant must be a member of the AAN at the time of application submission. AAN membership is free for medical students.
* Applicant must be an active SIGN member.
* The scholarship will be given to no more than one student per institution, preference is given to those involved with SIGN leadership. If more than one application is received from the same institution and they are deemed equal, the awarding of the scholarship will be determined by the date/ time the application is received.
* Medical students may not receive or accept more than one AAN scholarship to the Annual Meeting. Please apply for the scholarship that best fits your interests.

2021 Medical Student Prize for Excellence

February 1, 2021- March 22, 2021 (11:59 pm Central Standard Time)

* Nominee is a graduating medical student from an accredited university in the United States or Canada
* Nominee must have outstanding evaluations and recommendations from faculty and residents
* Nominee shows the most promise for a career in neurology

'* To nominate one of your graduating medical students, the neurology clerkship directors, department chairs (and/or their designees), and neurology residents should first evaluate the performance of all graduating medical students in the clinical neurology clerkship
* After evaluation, one student should be chosen from graduating class
* The nominator(s) officially nominate and provide a letter for the chosen student

2021 Medical Student Diversity Scholarship

February 8, 2021 - February 19, 2021 (11:59 pm Central Daylight Time)

* Medical Students must be in good standing at a United States medical school
* Students must be AAN members. Student membership is free—there is no cost for students to be members of the AAN
* Preference is given to second-and third-year students
* Medical students must be from one of the following underrepresented groups in neurology: African American/Black,
Native American, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native, Hispanic/Latino

*A single-spaced, one-page essay outlining the student's
* A letter of recommendation from a neurology professor outlining how the student has shown an interest in neurology. The professor must send the letter to the applicant to be uploaded during the application process.
* The student's curriculum vitae

2021 Medical Student Research Scholarship

* Only applicants from schools with established SIGN chapters
* The program is not intended for medical students with an extensive background in research; therefore, these students should not apply. Extensive research refers to multiple publications and multiple years of research experience at a graduate school level.

Child Neurology Scholarships:

CNF Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) Summer Research Scholarship

Deadline: April 12, 2021

The Child Neurology Foundation is awarding one summer clinical research scholarship for a first- or second-year U.S. or Canadian medical student who has an interest in training as a child neurologist.

The scholarship supports clinical research in the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities in children, conducted under the direction of a child neurology/NDD subspecialist during summer break.

The selected applicant will receive a $3,500 scholarship to support his or her research project.

Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation (PERF) Elterman Research Grant 

April 15, 2021

PERF supports clinical or basic science research by a child neurologist or developmental pediatrician early in his/her academic career. The selected investigator will receive a $100,000 grant of $50,000 per year for two years. The Elterman Grant is supported fully by PERF.

Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation (PERF) Shields Research Grant 

April 15, 2021

Shields Research Grant supports translational or clinical research by a child neurologist or developmental pediatrician early in his/her academic career. The selected investigator will receive a $100,000 grant of $50,000 per year for two years. The Shields Grant is supported by the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation (PERF).

The Philip R. Dodge Young Investigator Award 

April 15, 2021

This is an award for basic science or clinical research by accomplished young investigators who are members of the Child Neurology Society. The Dodge Award is supported by an endowment funded by CNS members and institutional contributors. The recipient of the Dodge Award will receive a grant of $30,000 and will be invited to present their work at the Annual Meeting of the Child Neurology Society.
