Adult Didactics

Basic and Clinical Neuroscience Curriculum:  A faculty-run longitudinal program that covers both fundamentals to advanced basic and clinical topics throughout the year.

Child Neurology Conference:  A weekly conference where residents present an interesting case from the previous week's inpatient service.  The group discusses current literature, treatment, and affords an opportunity to review complex cases in a teaching all child neurology faculty physicians.

EEG Conference:  Case presentation conferences. Focus is reading EEGs, epilepsy management, and other related topics.  

EMU Conference:  Case presentation conference. Discuss presentation, workshop and biopsy of selected Neuromuscular cases.

Journal Club Conference:  Critical analysis of current literature. Presented by the residents.

Morbidity and Mortality Conference: Discuss the disease process and the effects on our UK and VA Ward patients from previous months. Presented by the residents. 

Neuroimaging Conference: Film presentations and discussion. Presented by the faculty.

Smith Rounds* or Clinicopathologic Conference:  The purpose of the conference is to teach a systematic clinical approach to complex cases and provide additional exposure to neuropathology.  Senior-junior pairs of residents are provided with a mystery diagnosis case vignette with de-identified images.  A standardized template will guide learners through the case.

Stroke Conference:  Case presentation conferences. Multidisciplinary conference focused on
clinical case presentations in cerebrovascular disease.

Weekend Report:  Led by chief or senior resident, junior residents discuss initial presentation, work-up and treatment options of cases from the prior weekend.  Provides platform for residents to sharpen their diagnostic and work-up skills among peers.
